My thoughts of this olympic qualification year
22.04.2008
Warm welcome to everyone...
From now on i am going to update some news and write down all kind of stuff what goes in my mind in here.
i am gonna write down some of my thoughts of this season in this first post.warning!!it is quite long:):)
So Everyone knows it is olympic year and the race for olympic points has begun long time ago.And what a season it has been for me,absolutely horrible, full of struggle with motivation and my game at the same time. Before new year i managed to get only one good result which was the final in hungarian open. my motivation to go to tournaments was so low and as soon as i got to the tournament city i wanted to go home already, not a nice feeling.:)
Luckily all changed during christmas break and i got the rhytm to practise again and i knew that i will collect my reward later on.
Well the first tournament in sweden (one of my favourite tournaments) i was shown exit in the first match by belgium player and it really didnt feed my motivation to keep up the good work...but i managed to forget it.
First time i felt good in tournament was in austria where i made it to quarters playing rather good until i lost to Anand Pawar who played brilliantly all the way to the tournamentvictory. Few moments after austrian international was croatian international where i was set to meet Anand again in quarters:)but this tournament was all different, i was good old maniac runner from finland, and felt so good in there and went all the way to win the tournament.
Next week was portugal int. and i felt i had a chance to make it again, but unfortunately i was sick the whole week before.i went there hoping to make some rounds, but it wasnt meant to be that way as i was death tired already in the middle of the first set of my first match (rather opposite to croatia:):):)). I had good practise there anyway which helped me to keep my form up...
next week i had romanian international, where i had my biggest problems to get there as i thought almost all the way that it was played in bucharest (it was played in Timisoara),but as i finally got there, everything went my way...and i got my second title in three weeks!!!so sick.
from there i went to austria to have a rest and some kind of practise and i really didnt feel my form was going to be good next week in poland.my only goal was to survive the qualification and and win my first match in main draw, well i barely did that, but then somehow i managed to get couple of great matches and found myself in the final against my good friend and team mate marc zwiebler...well obviously i wasnt mentally too hungry anymore,i was so satisfied to get to final and pick some crucial points for olympicqualification.
next week i had my home tournament in finland...well my own expectations were not too high due to my poor contition and tireness i had in my body.and so it happened that i was one of the first tournamenttourists of all as i was shown exit in the first match against brilliant martin bille larsen who went all the way from qualification to win the tournament,gongrats...
so europeans were set to take place just one week after my home tournament.i got great start as i scalped polish wacha in team event and put myself into few favourites to win the title (in my mind at least:):):))well it wasn`t meant to be that way as i lost in third round to joachim persson as i couldnt find any way to beat him.
so all together now i have survived the qualification.i will be around 50 in world ranking next thursday, which is so big pleasure for me as i was 89th just 1,5 months ago:):)
now i am off to practise, hopefully u didnt fall asleep while reading this (next post wont be this long:):):))
yours
ville
